These Caterpillars have a brown herring-bone pattern along the body, and a pale mark at the tail. They are pests on a number of agricultural crops, including

  • Cereals ( POACEAE ), and
  • Pulses ( FABACEAE ).

    The caterpillars grow to a length of about 4 cms.

    The forewings of the adult moth are dark brown with a vague pattern. The hind wings are white, each with brown shading including along the costa and the hind margin. The wingspan is about 3 cms.

    The species has been found in Australia in

  • Victoria, and
  • South Australia.
