The adult moth of this species has grey or brown forewings each of which shade darker towards the margin. Each forewing has a wavy dark transverse line near the base and another across the middle of the wing, and also a pair of adjacent patches near the middle: one a dark 'L' shape, and one very pale.
The hindwings are grey-brown shading darker towards the wingtips sometimes with a vague dark spot near the middle. The wingspan is about 2.5 cms.

The name Thoracolopha verecunda seems to be applied to moths of several different but similar species. More study is needed to separate, describe, and name them.
