Some taxonomists think that AGONOXENINAE is a subfamily of BLASTODACNIDAE, and some that BLASTODACNINAE is a subfamily of AGONOXENIDAE, but here following the Checklist, we treat them both as separate families.

As this: AGONOXENIDAE currently only contains four named species in the whole world :

  • Agonoxena argaula ( Coconut Leafminer ) is a pest on Coconut Palm ( Cocos nucifera ) in Fiji and Hawaii.
  • Agonoxena pyrogramma is also a pest on Coconut Palm, in Indonesia.
  • Agonoxena miniana is a pest on Betel Nuts ( Areca catechu ) in Indonesia.

    and in Australia :

    Agonoxena phoenicia : Palm Moth
