The adult moth of this species is has a complex pattern of black and brown with an iridescent green sheen on each forewing. The hindwings are white with broad iridescent black margins. The wingspan is about 3 cms.

Some taxonomists have claimed this is a synonym of Aedia leucomelas, and others that it is a synonym of Spodoptera mauritia.
