The adult moth of this species is black with transparent windows in the wings, and it has a black and yellow banded abdomen. The moths have a wingspan of about 3.5 cms. The hindwings are only about half the span of the forewings. As in the genus Amata generally: female moths have a fatter abdomen, but a smaller wingspan than the males.
