The adult moths of this species have brown forewings and hind wings that are white with a broad dark brown border. The male moths have brown bar with a complex pattern, often involving other colours, across each forewing. The females have a dark line across each forewing and some blurry pale patches.

The moths are inclined to land on fruit, and insert their proboscis to suck the juice. The resulting skin penetration allows fungus spores in which spoil the fruit.
