When young, these caterpillars are brown on top, with a greenish dorsal stripe, and are off-white underneath. Older caterpillars are reddish-brown with some black and white spots along the sides.

The adult moths have brown forewings, each with some fine dark streaks near the margins, and recurved wingtips. The hindwings are pale brown with a dark area by the wingtips. At rest, the forewings are held over the hindwings. The wingspan is about 6 cms.
Eggs are green and laid in a neat array on the leaf of a foodplant.
