These Caterpillars can be a pest on :

  • Rice ( Oryza sativa, POACEAE ).

    The adult moths are brown with a large dark triangle outlined in white on each forewing. The hindwings and undersides are plain brown. The wingspan is about 3 cms.

    The species occurs across the south Pacific including :

  • American Samoa,
  • New Caledonia,
  • New Guinea,

    and in Australia in:

  • Western Australia,
  • Northern Territory, and
  • Queensland.
