The caterpillars of this species are brownish-grey, with a wide pale dorsal stripe. When scared, the caterpillars curl into a tight spiral.
The caterpillars are thought to feed on plants in the family MIMOSACEAE, including :
The caterpillars burrow under the soil to pupate.
The adult moth has brown forewings with indistinct darker markings, and buff coloured hindwings, each with a large dark spot near the tornus. It has a wing span of about 4 cms.
