Ardozyga nyctias

This Caterpillar was found in Sydney feeding on young shoots of :

  • Cadaghi ( Corymbia torelliana, MYRTACEAE ),

    living between leaves joined with silk. It grew to a length of 1 cm.

    Ardozyga nyctias

    It produced a simple little dark brown moth, with a white spot near the centre of each forewing. The wingspan is about 2 cms.

    The species is found over most of Australia in

  • Northern Territory,
  • Queensland,
  • New South Wales,
  • Australian Capital Territory,
  • Victoria,
  • Tasmania,
  • South Australia, and
  • Western Australia.
