This Caterpillar has a conical case which it covers with detritis. Clearly it does this at intervals, between which it moved to a different area, resulting in coloured bands along the case, so it is probably a Lepidoscia species. However, unlike other species in this genus, this caterpillar has attached a couple of sticks along the case.

The case has been observed to be an effective shield against attacks by ants.

Specimens have found in

  • Australian Capital Territory.

The caterpillar is thought to be a Lepidoscia species.
