The caterpillars of this species are a pest on various Palm Trees ( ARECACEAE ), boring into the growing shoots.

The adult has fawn fore and hind wings with two dark curved lines across each forewing.

The species is found in several parts of the world, including:

  • Europe,
  • Hong Kong,
  • New Zealand, and
  • Fiji,
    as well as in several parts of Australia, including:
  • Queensland,
  • South Australia, and
  • Tasmania.
