Undetermined Australian Caterpillar

This Caterpillar was found in Brisbane on a:

  • Gum Tree ( Eucalyptus, MYRTACEAE )

    between distorted leaves joined with silk. It was white with four black knobs on each segment, and a black lateral line along each side of the body. Its head capsule, prothorax, and last abdominal segment were all brown. It grew to a length of about 1 cm.

    It pupated in its leafy shelter.

    The adult moth was grey, with light and dark grey stripes on the fore wings. It had a wing span of about 2 cms.
