This species of Caterpillar is a pest on various types of Bean ( FABACEAE ), such as

  • Soybeans ( Glycine max ),
  • Garden Beans ( Phaseolus vulgaris ), and
  • Mung Beans ( Vigna radiata ).

    It lives in a shelter made from a rolled up leaf.

    The adult moth is yellow, with brown broad wavy bands and spots. There are two dark hair pencils each side of the thorax, looking like a demonic pair of horns. It has a wingspan of about 2 cms.

    It is found in south-east Asia across to the western Pacific, including:

  • Cook Islands,
  • Hong Kong,
  • Sri Lanka,
  • Thailand,

    and in Australia including:

  • Northern Territory, and
  • Queensland.
