This Caterpillar has been found feeding on :

  • Spiny Cankerweed ( Launaea arborescens, ASTERACEAE )

    Eublemma cochylioides

    The adult moth has pale brown forewings each with two darker submarginal brown lines often containing a pink area, and sometimes a pale splodge near the tornus. The head is white and the eyes are black. The wingspan is about 2 cms.

    Like many Eublemma species, the adult moths are inclined to face downward when resting.

    The species is found over much of the eastern hemisphere, including:

  • Canary Islands,
  • Fiji,
  • Hong Kong,
  • India,
  • New Guinea,
  • Singapore,
  • Spain,
  • Syria,

    as well as in Australia in

  • Western Australia,
  • Northern Territory,
  • Queensland,
  • New South Wales,
  • Australian Capital Territory,
  • Victoria, and
  • South Australia.
