Maxates tanygona

The adult moths of this species have green forewings, each with a white line along the highly curved costa, have a red spot near the middle. and are crossed by two dark zigzga lines which end in a red spot on the hind margin. The hindwings are each shaped like a kite, and are green, with one transverse dark zigzag line and a multiple red spot near the middle. The margins of all four wings have red edges, and very short white fringes. The moths have a wingspan of about 3 cms.

The species has been found in

  • Queensland, and
  • New South Wales.
