The adult moths have speckled grey forewings. The wingspan is about 1.5 cms.

This species Bactra optanias was originally found in

  • New Zealand, but has been found in
  • Papua,

    as well as in Australia in:

  • Queensland,
  • Norfolk Island,
  • New South Wales, and
  • Victoria.
