It is a normal taxonomic belief that each of the 350 Australian named species in PSYCHIDAE not only have unique DNA, but have adults with unique colour patterns, and unique wing venations, and unique genitalia. So it is tempting to believe that the structural pattern of external attachments to the larval case of each PSYCHIDAE species is unique. Sadly this has been proved wrong, and different adult species have been reared from very similar cases.
