Stenoptilodes taprobanes

The Caterpillars of this species have been reported feeding on a variety of plants, including :

  • Polka Dot Plant ( Hypoestes betsiliensis, ACANTHACEAE ),
  • Spreading Sneezeweed ( Centipeda minima, ASTERACEAE ),
  • False Fiddleleaf ( Hydrolea species, BORAGINACEAE ),
  • Lesser Sea-spurrey ( Spergularia media, CARYOPHYLLACEAE ),
  • Blueberry ( Vaccinium corymbosum, ERICACEAE ),
  • Rose Gentian ( Sabatia species, GENTIANACEAE ),
  • Wild Basil ( Clinopodium vulgare, LAMIACEAE ),
  • Snapdragons ( Antirrhinum majus, PLANTAGINACEAE ), and
  • Brookweed ( Samolus, PRIMULACEAE ).

    Pupa.

    The adult moth has a wingspan between 1 and 2 cms.

    The species has been found around the world, in

  • Hong Kong,
  • Italy,
  • Papua,
  • Sri Lanka,
  • West Africa,
  • U.S.A.,

    and in Australia, the species has been found in

  • Western Australia,
  • Northern Territory,
  • Queensland,
  • New South Wales, and
  • Australian Capital Territory,
  • Victoria.
