The species listed here in this family have been placed as subfamiles in various other families by previous authors, including HELIODINIDAE ELACHISTIDAE, and OECOPHORIDAE, but here following recent morphological and molecular studies, we list it as a family.
The moths have a characteristic resting posture with the hind legs raised out and above the body,
rather like the resting posture of many Lizards.
