Vincent Davesne was an active 19th-century French illustrator and printmaker in Paris who specialized in highly intricate, hand-coloured steel engravings and lithographs for prestigious scientific, medical, and natural history publications. His engravings on steel rather than the usual copper allowed him to produce fine complex drawings of delicate biological specimens and complex human dissections.

He is famous for the engravings in Dr. Joseph Nicolas Masse's "Petit Atlas complet d'Anatomie descriptive du Corps Humain".

Davesne was an artist chosen by Guérin-Méneville for the illustrations in his monographs on Lepidoptera.
