Gottlieb August Wilhelm Herrich-Schäffer was a German entomologist and medical doctor. He was born and died in Regensburg.

Herrich-Schäffer described many new species, and he also meticulously drew the vast majority of the illustrations for his own publications to ensure precision in the wing venation and patterns. Herrich-Schäffer in his personal workshop in Regensburg, Germany, operated his own specialized lithographic printing establishment. He personally transcribed his original drawings onto the lithographic stones, managed the hand-colouring of the plates, and printed them through his own house.
